Woof! It was my last class today…I’m kinda sad…I’ve spent every Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning with these guys for 10 weeks…walking, jumping(ish) over picnic tables, doing sits on the large concrete balls on 8th avenue, riding the C-train, riding escalators, walking (or being dragged) over those stupid grates in the sidewalk, learning recall commands (“Cupcake” is what makes me come running to mom), dragging my leash on walks (I like that part!), learning to greet other dogs (some of those dogs in the off leash parks were SO badly behaved…no manners…sheesh), and a bunch of other stuff which mom keeps telling me I’ve forgotten.
I’ll miss you guys! xo

little black dress with a side of fur
I knew that we pugs shed a lot…but I didn’t know we shed A LOT!!! My mom has a lot of black clothes, and a whole rail in the closet full of LBDs (little black dresses), but I’ve come to realize virtually all of her clothes are black, or at least dark enough to show EVERY LITTLE STRAND of my pug fur.
In a favorite comic strip they joke that pugs shed twice their body weight in fur every day…it’s really not that far off…
Here’s a photo after mom brushed me last night:
where for art thou???
How do I hide something so well in the house that after a week of my mom & dad crawling around they still can’t find it anywhere? They keep asking, “How does she do that?” I’m good!
My mom learned in class a couple of weeks ago that giving me rawhide chews/bones is verboten (boo!) so they bought me a small elk antler for $10 and today I had it in my mouth one second, and the next it’s gone…where did it go? They’ll never find it…haha!
I was so cute…when I ran around with it in my mouth she said I looked like saber toothed puppy (at least in profile)…I also managed to hide (permanently) a kong, but I have another…but the antler was for sure in the house as mom put it in my crate before she had to go out (I hate that part – but I love the peanut butter filled kong). They were teaching me “bone” with the antler. I’m not sure why, but mom keeps muttering, “Where the hell is it??” and “Bahhhhhhh!”
how do i love thee…let me snore the ways…
I currently have a pudgy little ball of cuteness asleep in my lap…she is SO NOISY when she’s sleeping and it is so cute. Her front paws are wrapped around my left arm and her head is in the crook of my elbow. Could she be any cuter? or louder? How do I love my puppy…let me count the ways… xo
don’t leave me in the car either…!
For the first 20 minutes of training class this morning we had to leave our dogs in the car. I had never left Lulu in the car for more than about 2.5 minutes before so she was a tad incensed.
This evening we went grocery shopping and decided to bring her with us. A quickish trip into Costco (as quick as that can ever be), a quick trip into Superstore, and then brought the poopsie into Petland to buy her some Orijen puppy food and a deer antler (didn’t know until one of the classes last week that rawhide was a total no-no).
Lulu whimpered almost the entire car ride home…not sure if she was excited or upset…surely she has to enjoy being in the car with us more than being locked in her crate at home?
don’t leave me…!!!
For the last couple of months I’ve been in the habit of tossing a kong filled with peanut butter into Lulu’s crate before exiting the house so she’s occupied and doesn’t watch me leave. This morning I put half a dental bone thingie in there and she was scratching, and BARKING, and whimpering before I even got out the door. Good grief that’s a heart wrenching sound.
Don’t leave me!
Don’t leave me!
Yikes…if I could find a way to get paid to play with lulu all day I’d be a very happy puppy-mommy!
there’s a traffic jam where?
Without fail, when we’re watching the morning news Lulu starts barking during the traffic report. Every day…good traffic, bad traffic, Lulu’s going to bark at it. It’s quite cute…she does NOT enjoy the traffic…RRRUFFF!
sock monkey pug
OK – after training class this morning I went to buy Lulu a new martingale because she’s grown out of the old one – and the store had the CUTEST sock monkey dog sweaters. Now I’ve been very adamant about not dressing her up in “outfits” – but of course in this crazy climate she’ll need a coat (which I already have) – but it is autumn…a sweater would be good, wouldn’t it? And if she’s going to be wearing a sweater anyway…couldn’t it have sock monkey ears??
{ pug } princess + a pea
We had a dinner party last night for my parent’s 46th wedding anniversary – it also coincided with my Dad’s retirement – so there was much to celebrate. I swear my Dad’s kind of like the Lulu-whisperer – she will sit in his lap calmly for hours – it’s quite amazing.
Even though all the attention (or most anyway) should’ve been elsewhere, I’ve come to realize that no matter what I cook or who I invite, the pug princess is going to take center stage at all of our gatherings. This was her third or fourth dinner party, but her first indoors…Lulu really makes me wish we lived in a milder climate…I’m a little nervous about the imminent months of snow….unless she likes the snow?!? Here’s hoping…
